TrackBurrs

Α species that survives in an unlikely place
These prickly burrs grow attached to a bush. Once a criminal passes by and the burrs detatch, the plants begin releasing chemicals that can be tracked over specialized grid maps captured by aerial drones.   When the chemicals are emitted, they cause sensor points on the maps. Heavily concentrated areas of chemical indicate multiple burrs or a criminal staying in one place for an extended period of time.   After so long, the burrs run out of chemical to emit, and the criminal will no longer be trackable.   Tracking devices. Different types of burr bushes all over the island located in heavily forested areas and other places with lush plantlife and lots of places to hide.   the burrs attach themselves to passersby and allow for W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. security to track the offenders.   this is helpful for if any captives are attempting to escape the island.

Basic Information

Anatomy

these burrs are small and range from the size of a grape tomato to the size of an infant's fist.   they are covered in tiny, prickly spikes that attach themselves to clothing and embed themselves into skin.   The genetically altered plant forms are grown from the lab to emit a special chemical gas that is trackable on certain radars and maps concocted and monitored by W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P..

Growth Rate & Stages

From a seed, the plant grows out into a bush with many burrs. The bush does not expande invasively, but is trained to stay in certain confined areas. This is to make sure that there are not rapid growths of the plant all over the island, rather only benchmarks of the plant in strategically placed locations. That way, when burrs and their chemicals are detected on the map, monitors can know that this is a result of intruders or escapees traversing the area.

Dietary Needs and Habits

These plants are very low-maintnance. They do not require much watering outside of nature's own timing of rain. They can go for extended periods of time without water and even much sunlight. By growing on bushes low to the ground, they are usually found in shaded areas but are still able to survive and thrive.
Commander McCox Gives Newbies the Rundown:   Nobody wants to be sent to The Fly Trap, but, if you're ever there, be sure to stay out of the way of TrackBurrs. They stick your skin and cling to your clothes and are irritating as heck. Also, they emit a special gas that W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. can track over intricate maps and pinpoint your exact location. Well, you won't even need this advice unless you plan on becoming a traitor and being sent to the Prison Sector, or invading it yourself to free a person, steal data, or tamper with some experiments. This kinda behavior is totally unacceptable, so you'd better put it all out of your mind or face the possibility of Erasure. Personally, operatives who commit treason have it WAYYY worse than those who get injured and are sent to The Styrax.

An interesting solution to "how can we track people without investing in surgery etc."   One thing I would perhaps change come September, instead of saying the plant is trained, which to me would imply some intelligence and agency on the plants part, instead say that it is bred/engineered to not spread (if it is lab-made this can be easy, any natural seedpods could just be sterile and only serve the purpose of emitting the chemical)

Check out some of my summer camp articles, like the dangerous flying jackalope or dragon wasps. Or, for something more light-hearted, there is the whimsical language Gobbledygook and Jaden's interesting job as a guano polisher.

Of course they also track with surgeries XD but this is for those who may have somehow managed to defy all other odds. If they were in the prison and have somehow escaped, they've already displayed OP level abilities. Those who mainly need to be tracked by the burrs are people who are passing through the island to break prisoners out or steal information etc.   The sterilization of the plant was addressed in a stream. I thought I added it to the article but I don't think I've read the whole thing through.   I think I meant like a container plant. Some plants can be trained to stay inside the pot, while others grow wild and break out of container. Plants can also be trained to grow up against walls etc. So training plants is a thing. XD   Thanks again for reading and commenting! If you have any other questions or comments, please don't hesitate to ask. I love exploring worlds (including my own:))!

Cool Idea to make plants a tracking system of its own.
The additonal benefit of the Blurrs being spikey and thus irritating the skin of an intruder is marvelous.
I guess some rich folks are having these in the backyard near to the fences, or have they not?

Have a look at my entries for:

thankfully, WILLOWISP hasn't revealed this tech to the public, so you should still be able to sneak over Mr. Johnson's fence and snag your baseball no prob. ;)
