Erasure

A medical condition which is feared by some.
-Dimi & Janet

Causes

Erasure is believed to be intentionally performed on agents and individuals who the company sees as a threat, usually due to the fact that they have found out too much information.

Symptoms

After being erased, it is believed that an agent will not be able to recall anything. This includes W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. organizational secrets as well as any details of their personal life.

Treatment

Erasure is thought by many to be incurable.

Affected Groups

It is presumed that W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. agents of all levels and even some of the dangerous criminals and other enemies that have been captured by the organization are at risk of Erasure. Essentially, anyone who knows too much information that could potentially violate the agency.

Prevention

The best method of avoiding the feared Erasure is to exercise caution and follow all protocols to prevent serious injuries or dishonorable discharge.

History

There are several agents speculated to have undergone Erasure, but no cases have been confirmed.   Some operatives marked in the database as MIA or KIA are believed to have actually been erased. This is also speculated of the agents that were transported to The Styrax and have not returned.

Cultural Reception

Many agents fear Erasure and try their best to do whatever they can to avoid upsetting the company. Agents also try not to risk maneuvers that may result in severe injuries that could send them to The Styrax.

Commander McCox Gives Newbies the Rundown:   Listen up, kid. Don't tell anyone I told you this, but, there's an age-old rumor going around about the process for terminating or discharging agents. They call it Erasure, and it's not pretty. I hear there are these large machines, probably all hidden somewhere at The Styrax, that do something to your brain. They might erase your memory, or even erase you completely. You know what they say, No One Comes Back from that place.   When you were recruited, they probably told you something like, "You'd better be sure you want this, because, once you see too much, we're going to have to erase you off the face of the earth if you disagree," right? Well, some people think it's an exaggerated joke. Others think they're serious. Personally, I don't want to find out, and I don't think you want to either. SO, the best things I can suggest are: don't get hurt, don't get caught, and don't get any ideas.

I really like how this wasn't necessarily a medical condition. Thanks for the inspiration.

I must say, I feel the Men in Black vibe from this. But it also is unique to aim as a fear/"keep in line tool" by the organisation. Good story element for future projects as I can see it. Also, the "newbie informations in your articles are great fun to read about how people in the world feel about these things!

I somehow suspected there was a relation with The Styrax' rumor by reading the tittle. Now everything makes sense.
