Cloning
The organization insists that cloning is not possible in the way that many imagine it is. In truth, modern cloning can actually happen, but it only occurs at an embryonic stage. Many people have the idea that a person can step into a machine and be doubled like some sort of sci-fi movie, basically creating a twin that shares the same age, appearance, and train of thought. This is, essentially, not presently possible. If a being were to be cloned using DNA, one would have to wait several years before it was developed and old enough to even start forming its own thoughts. Also, just because it is a clone of something doesn't mean it will think the exact same way the original does.
Summary
Some people, for whatever reason, believe that Willowisp might be cloning people who are already fully grown. This is not a widely thought rumor, but it exists in some circles. There has been talk and suspicion of such happening when fellow co-workers are gone for a time but return with slightly different behavior, lost or broken memories, and other things that lead employees to believe the person they know is gone.
Some people argue that the reason they are behaving strangely may be due to a different myth, such as Erasure, while others claim that cannot be the truth because they can spot some physical differences in the person such as height and the positioning of certain facial features being slightly off from how they were before. Official W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. Higher-Ups, the few times they have addressed this matter, have blatantly denied the process of Cloning, saying that no company is able to accomplish such a feat in this day and age.
Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown: Cloning!? Did you say CLONING!? Ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah, no. That kinda thing doesn't happen here. The idea one can just step into a box or something and come out as two different people is hilarious. True clones can only be incubated as embryos, and there are enough labs out there tinkering with all that. There is no need for precious time, money, energy, and manpower to be wasted on useless research that other scientists are already conducting. How would cloning even help W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P., anyway? I mean, they might try it with plants, most likely. They do a lot of plant experiments. And I'll say it wouldn't surprise me if they tried it on animals. They do a lot of weird experiments with animals. But humans? That makes absolutely no sense. There would be no need to clone humans when there are already nearly eight point three billion of them already crawling around the planet. They'd be better off just recruiting ones that already exist. A lot less work, if you ask me.
