Honoring the Lost

W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. operatives all over the world have heard tell of the grand monument that supposedly exists on The Styrax called Honoring the Lost. The area has been described as a large, serene park with lush grass, beautiful plants, elaborate fountains, and a tranquil atmosphere. There is a chapel building in which visitors can pray or have peaceful solitude to gather their thoughts and mourn if they would like. The main fixtures of this purported monument are the elaborate walls scattered about the garden that are said to have been constructed of fine marble bricks, each engraved with the names of lost agents who were deemed missing or killed in action.

Purpose / Function

Honoring the Lost was created to recognize W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. operatives who have fallen in the line of duty.   The garden is hardly ever referred to as a cemetery, mostly because, though some bodies and cremated remains are located there, many agents who are missing or lost in the line of duty cannot be physically recovered. The engraved names are the primary showcase of Honoring the Lost.

The chapel is quaint but highly detailed. There is a large room with pews, but there are also several small, comfy, quiet rooms where visitors can relax or pray privately.

There are no known defenses in this area. The doors to the chapel are always open and the gates of the premises are never locked. People are free to roam in and out as they please. There has not been any history of vandalism or other chaotic events occurring.

Agents all over W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. know about this monument's existence, but very few have seen it for themselves. Only agents who are residents or workers of The Styrax have beheld it with their own eyes, and these agents have never returned to speak of it.

Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:   The Styrax is a scary place to think about. Once you go, you're not coming back. They say there's a monument right there on the island. I guess it's the place where they bury the spies who get shipped out there and don't make it...which is most all of them, I assume. Unless they're all chillin' in some kind of utopia. That's kinda unlikely. The Erasure theory still stands most probable in my mind. Anyways, this monument--I guess they have a cemetary right there on the island, and a wall with the written names of all those operatives we've lost. I've heard they even include those who didn't get shipped out to The Styrax. Sounds like a beautiful, tranquil place, but the whole thing still gives off eerie vibes. Nobody knows if such a monument actually exists and nobody wants to find out. I don't think it's worth it, honestly. We can honor them in our hearts and go about our day, thank you very much. Some headquarter locations even add plaques to honor previous agents, so I don't really think there's a need to venture all the way over to creepy island just to pay your respects.
