Androids

As you may know, W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. scientists are currently experimenting with the possibilities of Android-like technology and have admittedly created a few substantial prototypes. Still, none of this is anything to be alarmed about. Androids don't actually appear, behave, or in any way resemble normal Humans. There is absolutely no possibility that any one person could find themselves in a situation where they are unable to tell the difference between an Android and a Human. Additionally, there is no plan to integrate said Androids into normal Human spaces. Please do not suspect your fellow man to be an Android. We assure you, they are not.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The term of Android is often used loosely but mainly refers to a robot made to resemble a Human being. Some of these can look more realistic than others. Many of them have the general shape of a person although they do not always possess their features, colors, textures, and behavior. It is suspected that advanced Android prototypes have been crafted and are currently being tested in pools of unsuspecting Humans. They are thought to be collecting data and learning about interaction so that they can be used in the field on future missions. This has not been confirmed or denied by the organization. Their physical forms and mental capacities are speculated to enhance their strength, stamina, and combat quality due to their supposed ability to automatically learn several styles of fighting and methods of defense along with their quick computing skill to determine future outcomes in specified scenarios due to probability.

Genetics and Reproduction

It is not believed that Androids, if they in fact exist, have the ability to reproduce biologically.

Growth Rate & Stages

According to the most widely recognized theory, proposed Androids are built into a body with a set size, age, and height, therefore they are incapable of aging as Humans do.

Ecology and Habitats

It is suspected that Androids are securely locked down, powered off, and stored away in remote locations such as Albitrunca or on secret private islands like Dionaea Muscipula when not in use.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It is not suspected traditional nutritional intake is necessary in Androids, but some believe Androids have the ability to consume food and drink items in order to blend in with Humans.

Behaviour

A wide arguement among many is whether Androids, if they do exist, are sentient beings or simply machines with no feelings or emotion. This philosophical debate rages on with no set conclusion, but the organization dismisses both sides as trivial and unnecessary to worry about due to the fact that they ensure the general public that Androids do not exist in this capacity whatsoever.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Most Androids that have been observed by the average W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. employee have no facial features, though it is suspected that the company is capable of creating Androids that have realistic expressions.

Average Intelligence

Androids are known to be extremely intellegent but may or may not behave in the way they are supposed to due to their erratic computerized 'brain'. Many systems are built upon yes-or-no scenarios and are trained in various patterns which makes them somewhat predictable until they are introduced to a new situation in which they often make a terribly outlandish choice due to confusion and what they think to be likely probability. Such information has been shared by notable W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. scientists in select circles, but it is not known which Androids these experiences refer to nor when said instances supposedly occurred.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Due to the fact that Androids are an manufactured construct, they are intentionally built to have refined capabilities such as sight, hearing, and thought. They are also believed to be equipped with sensors that work to detect smell and touch.

Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:   Androids. Yeah, no. Those things...they don't actually exist here. Well, not in the sense you may be imagining. Like, not actually superrealistic robots that look, feel, walk, talk, and act like Humans or something. Yeah, maybe W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. is playing around with robotics in the lab. So? That doesn't mean that advanced scenario you're imagining can happen. That stuff simply doesn't exist. It's fiction.   If you want more fiction, you can head over to the The Greenhouse. They have a library there full of all sorts of interesting fiction books for interns such as yourself to check out. Some are about talking animals and flying pigs and all sorts of things that aren't real, like Androids.   It's so funny to me, the fact that some people literally think they can hold a conversation with an Android that's somehow right in front of their face and they won't be able to hear it in their voice or see it in their movements, or smell mechanical oil and feel metalic skin and stuff is crazy. That's hilarious to think something like that could even happen. Even if the Android somehow looked convincing, it would likely act strange and unlike any Human you've ever met and bring up random subjects every five seconds due to their brains always being connected to the internet or something.   You know, the internet connection here at Jack Pine Tower is pretty cool. It's so reliable, it almost never drops out, unlike the regular service I get back at home. It's likely because W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. has its own specialized secure network for top secret reasons. More difficult to hack. But it also eliminates buffering and all that boring waiting. You can access loads of information in mere miliseconds. Information about all kinds of stuff, from jellyfish to tapioca. Oh, and even fictional stuff like the Loch Ness Monster and Androids.   What? Why are you looking at me like that? YOU'RE not an Android, are you???
